Not that the olympics lately is anything special either, but American Idol!?

What is it about this show that has this country so enthralled? American Idol has got to be one of the dumbest, most mind-numbingly boring shows on television. I mean seriously -- what the hell has the show done this season that makes it any different than last year's, or the year before? If my roommate is watching this show on TV when I sit down for dinner or something, I have to leave the room and go eat at my computer, because just the sound of Simon's voice, or the babbling of that Seacrest guy, or the pure inane rantings of the annoying-ass contestants ("That's how we do it, yo!", "She betta' quit frontin' like she knows what we up to!", etc.) drives me to the point where I can literally FEEL my brain melting into some sort of goo.

It's already difficult enough to extract some intelligent viewing out of the wasteland of television without this kind of crap rotting the minds of the masses.

I'm a big fan. i couldnt tell you why, i guess i think its funny when people think they're good, and simon says "You're honstly the ugliest, stupidest person I've ever met,......Oh, and you cant sing either"

Agreed.Out off all the comps,Kelly Clarkson is the only that really hit mainstream so to speak.What's that tell you?They judge on people who can really sing,fair enough.What I don't get is how much music out there has singers that really..................can't sing.Bands that have these singers that can't sing are the ones headlining and such.I don't know about you but when American Idol has these people singing songs from the 50s and such,where and how does that fit in todays music?And when someone sings a song from the 80s or 90s they get cut down from the judges. That show sucks!

The auditions are funny because it just draws the wierdos out of the woodwork. I could really care less who wins, but watching Simon crush peoples dreams somehow puts a smile on my face. Maybe I am mean like that

the only episode i've ever watched was a 'worst of' compilation of the auditions for the one the seasons...that was funny
