Dieseling comes from fuel spilling into the Manifold, and the Very Hot clyinders igniting it.
The newer systems, after 7x(?) are supposed to have some kind of Anti-Diesel valve in the Carb to stop that! Something is supposed to shut that fuel off when the Ignition switch is turned off! It sounds like your T-Stat is still keeping the Engine too hot. You may find that changing it is worth the time and effort. They come bad from Part's, and they go bad quickly sometimes. |

Dieseling can also be caused by a too high idle speed. The soleniod only cuts off the fuel in the idle circuit.

Amen Gas
I just read that in my book this morning over my 'Hot Pocket' breakfast!
I'd forgotten a simple thing like Idiling too fast. Which can be caused by a Vacuam leak! And looking for a Vacuam leak in an old car like mine, can be likend to looking for a Guerilla in a Jungle! The big difference is: The Vacuam leak wont come and find you! On installing the engine in my 86 Civic Wagon Project: I'm down to four mystery Vacuam Tubes, and Four mystery wires! A shunted Connector down under the Radiator where the Drivers side Thermosensor should have been connected????? ALso down under the Radiator, about center, WAS a connector. I cant see the wire colors, so I cant figure out where it went. I have the Factory Honda Manual, and it shows a connector in that vicinity, but it just drop's the Subject right there! Any Ideas? |

I had ripped out a lot of wires and most of the vacuum lines from my Wagon, so it's been a while since I've seen them intact. The only wires I remember seeing down near the bottom of the radiator are the ones for the fan(s) and the temp switch in the radiator. Do you hace AC? If you do, there's probably more wires there. If not, there is probably a second connector for the AC fan. The reason some electrical info seems to be missing from the manual is because there's a seperate electrical manual (I wish I had one
).The problem with the vacuum lines is that there were so many variations of emissions systems. I'd just try to make the engine you're using match the correct diagram for your car.
