New Civic Buyer

Hey guys, I am going to buy a 93 civic with about 86 thou on it. I was just looking to make it a little faster. Would it be easy to drop a GSR engine in there with the tranny? Or would it rather difficult?>

Oviously if you know what you are doing it woudent be to bad and you got at least $2000 for motor and tranny. I am getting ready to get a gsr swap to my civic, I got a budy doing mine for $400. Well if you don't anyone it's going to cost you a lot more..

Re: New Civic Buyer

Well thats not that bad. Would it be better to buy a GSR or a "civic Type R"?

Any suggestions on where to find these on the net?

Re: New Civic Buyer

The Civic Type R engine is not worth the price, 5hp at the price of about a grand more. Stick with the b18c (the "GS-R", not the ITR).
Check out www.hmotorsonline.com www.passwordjdm.com just to name a few.

You'll need the complete swap (engine, tranny, B-series axles, ECU, b-series shiftlinkage). On top of that you'll need a '94-'01 teg rear mount bracket (the actual Civic mount will work, you just need the bracket), '94-'01 teg upper and lower radiator hoses. And if you have A/C and want to keep it, you'll need a Del Sol VTEC A/C bracket.

not to bad... everything bolt in.. just like doing a normal engine swap.. but instead of putting the stock mounts and axles in you jsut swap them out for then b series ones... go look at some junk yards... i just picked up a complete gsr motor for 500 bucks

Re: New Civic Buyer

its probably a lot easier to rebuild engines when they are out of the car then taking them out of the car first
