Re: cant get alternator out from behind engine 96 eclipse!

Well I was just browsing the forums but I don't have a 96 eclipse.

But if your car is anything like my integra was (I couldn't get it from behind the engine either)

My solution was to take off the front tire and pull it around through there, took a while to find a path but it worked. Getting it back on was much easier than getting it off.

Hope this helps but like I said I don't have a 96 eclipse and I don't really know the engine layout.

Re: cant get alternator out from behind engine 96 eclipse!

did you try jacking the engine up a lil bit?

i 4got to mention that i did that.

i put a jack under the engine, loosened up the brackets and jacked it up an inch or two.
but if you try that be very careful, if your jack fails/slips it can be deadly.

i would suggest you have a back-up jack as well and a friend there.

But if you're not comfortable trying that procedure you should just take off the parts thats in your way (if you can put them back on)

It was a bitch for me to get out my alternator on my 420a. You have to sneak it out through the bottom. It takes alot of trying different ways to get it out, it'll seem like it won't come, but eventually it will. Have fun though

You jacked it up by the oil pan?

Damn that has to suck!!!

I forgot where I jacked mine up with but I'm pretty sure having a friend pull it forward would probably be an easier way to go.

Let us know how it turns out.
