Angry 01 Jetta 1.8T, M.A.F. Sensor Failures!!!!!

The Mass Air Flow sensor on my 01 Jetta 1.8T has failed and been replaced 6 times and the car only has 105,000Km on it. What gives? VW obviously has not fixed the problem, is it a system issue that causes the sensor to fail? What is the root cause of this problem? How can this problem be fixed once and for all????

I'm ready to get rid of this piece of crap car!!!!

That's a bit too much. VW guarantees the part for a year, so keep your recipt. It will go bad once a year, though probably about a week after they'd give you a new one. It's just a maintaince part, like spark plugs or a new belt

Re: 01 Jetta 1.8T, M.A.F. Sensor Failures!!!!!

the dealer has most likely replaced the maf sensor for system too lean/rich codes in ecm.
causes for those codes :
faulty front o2 sensor
vacuum leak
cracked/leaking pcv system breather hoses under intake manifold above oil filter cooler (very very common on 60k mile + 1.8t's)

most common is from oil from pcv system getting onto maf sensor from faulty pcv components

cost of parts alone to replace all pcv breather lines and pcv valves (450-500 usd)
