hard reverse cold
Any ideas why my 98 bangs a hard reverse cold? All other times smooth. In the morning when I first back out the driveway cold, the first time I shift in reverse it seems to it HARD. All other times smooth, any ideas?

Re: hard reverse cold
My 2001 is doing the same thing......sometimes it SLAMS into reverse on the first time, cold, and it is intermittent. Frustrating, yes. Any clues?

Re: hard reverse cold
My 95 is the same. Hard shift into reverse when cold. Took it in for transmission surgery. Was told that to cure would be overhaul for about $3,000. They serviced tranny and replaced solenoids (A+B) to clear some codes for about $400. Unfortunately, I still have the crash into reverse when cold. When car is warm, no problemo. You could try backing into your driveway. That way, in the morning, you can shift straight to drive and no hard shift. I don't think the hard shift is good for the machinery.

Re: hard reverse cold
It's not your Trans I'ts your wheel sensors most likely. When they go bad they cause your trans to have those certain codes that make it slam into reverse. Have those cheked. If bad replace them and clear your trans codes.
If you just clear the trans codes by themselves it will just start to bang again within a couple of miles of driving. Peace. |

Re: hard reverse cold
computer sets line pressure higher in reverse than in any other gear.
This is one reason why its harder. Also depends on temperature. |
