2005 CRV - rear knocking/rattle near passenger-side wheel-well area???

From the day I pulled the CRV off the lot, an intermittant rattle / knocking noise from an area near the passenger side rear wheel-well area. I first thought it might be exhaust pipe banging on bottom....it is not. The CRV now has nearly 15,000 miles, and at 5K and 10K check-up/maintenance I made mention of this noise to the dealer, and they have found nothing. I am beginning to suspect something in the suspension assembly, or within the break assembly, or ??? Anyone offer clue or advise? Thanks much.

I had a similar situation with my wife's 2005 CR-V. Same noise described and I swore it was coming from under the rear as you described, drove me nuts! Until one day while my wife was driving I pulled out the rear passenger seat belt all the way and held tension on it......no rattle. I took it to the dealer and they checked the seat belt assembly and it turned out a mounting bolt was stripped and rattling around inside. They replaced it and no more rattles. Not a home type repair and certainly a safety issue.

Check the tire jack. I think it's mounted above the p.s. rear wheel. Sometimes when those aren't properly secured they can move around a bit. When you find the source of the noise make sure you post it.
