Where Is Blower Motor Resistor?

93, Escort blower fan no speeds need to replace resistor, where will it be found?

I had to rewire the blower motor on my 93 1.9L and didn't see a resistor pack on it...my GUESS would be on the fan speed switch...ie, the amount of current going to the blower is determined inside the switch. Never pulled this switch but I think it's worth a look.

llerrad(darrell), sorry but Dougand3 is wrong. They do have a resistor and the resistor, not the switch, meters the amount of current going to the blower motor - hence the name. It is located on the bottom of the evaporator housing towards the center of the car. It will have a wiring harnesss(pigtail) leading to it and it is usually held in by two screws. It does, however, seem that it may not be your resistor due to the symptoms you stated. If a resistor goes bad you will usually lose the lower speeds on the blower but the highest setting will still usually work. I would check the switch also as it sounds like the culprit. Unfortunately, the switch(from Ford) is about 74 bills and the resisitor is only about 13, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it is the resistor. They also list a relay for the blower motor, so check everything before you start replacing parts, you may get off cheap. Good Luck. Let us know what you find. M.
