No matter your position, I think you'll agree...

That Saddam (and his brother) are asshats:

Either I don't understand megalomania, or the man doesn't have a firm grip on reality. Or perhaps he's just fighting for his life.

I still like the man. You're not even giving him a chance to speak his side of the story. Dont be so quick to judge. Speaking of judge, that judge shouldn't be in there in the first place. He was charged with serious crime a few years back and he was suppose to be sentenced to life in prison. This happened during the Baathists rule. How did he manage to get out? Who knows but I can assure you that he has a grudge against Saddam and I can see this trial is not goin be a fair one.

"Like"? How about "respect" instead? I can respect him for his persistence and unwavering course, but can't help thinking that there is some level of mental problem involved there. I wonder how can you like a dictator that supposedly gassed his own people, failed to apologize to anyone, ever, and gave the finger to the entire world among other things?

Re: No matter your position, I think you'll agree...

The guy's most definitely an asshat, no doubt. I personally find it incredibly difficult to "like" a guy so questionable in character (not to mention the free reign he gave his sons -- themselves less than savory people.) As a matter of fact, I couldn't even "respect" him if I HAD to. Regardless of the reasons why (foreign intervention, internal strife, etc.) the guy's country was highly unstable and many of its people could have really used a hand (one look at some of the UAE countries and how the majority of their population lives, and it's easy to see that there was a lot more he could have done for his people) yet instead of furthering his country and its people, he used vital resources to build himself opulant palaces.

I'm by NO means a fan of the Iraq war, but neither am I even remotely a fan of Saddam Hussein, either. The guy's a snake at best (and even that may be too good for him.)

He's already said his piece, in the years that he was in charge of Iraq. And despite the fact that Iraqi courts are much less formal than here in the US, Hussein is repeatedly disruptive and refuses to respond to questions. He's an asshat.

I think he should be bound and gagged while he is in the courtroom so he won't be a distraction.
Even better, stop wasting time and just execute him- we already know that he has killed thousands, including his own people!

I say we stop the trial now, take Saddam out back and just shoot him now. Just think of all the money that could be saved. I like Saddam when he is dead and buried.

Raouf Abdel-Rahman has been a judge since 1970. What crime did he commit? And we all know only the guilty was thrown in jail by Saddam. Yup Saddam never locked up anyone who was innocent. usually Saddam had the innocent shot on the spot.

BTW you know the judge is a Kurd. Maybe that is why you think Saddam won't get a fair trail. But what does Saddam know about fair?

You're right about that. The next time I see him I'm going to hug him, sit in his lap, and say "what's new Uncle Saddam?"

Give me a break, mass graves, UN supplies stored up and not handed out to the people, gas tests on his own people, and he threw people in paper shreaders feet first, the guy is not Time Magazine person of the year material.

His sons cut up some girls and fed them to their dogs because they told them they didn't want to go to prom with them or some kind of dance.

WAIT! I'm sorry, I'm being too quick to judge. Maybe he just didn't have enough Prozac that week to deal with the situation and I'm giving him too hard of a time

Saddams mass gravesShia and Kurd. Over a hundred bodies stated in this article, yet many others state that Saddam is believed to have murdered over 300,000 people. Sources, check BBC, CNN, Fox News, al jazeera, and most other major news outlets, and many of these have high ranking officials of the former iraqi government as their sources.

Re: No matter your position, I think you'll agree...

Sadaam told me the mass graves are not his fault. He's a reliable, trustworthy, and unbiased source right?

You're right, I guess he's not really such a bad guy, I mean he's probably at least as likable as Pol Pot.
