Arrow New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

I have had my 4g civic DX Hatch for about 6 months now. When i bought it the hillbillies that owned it before me dropped it bout 3.5 or more inches with nuthing more than cheap drop springs. Now that i have some money from my income tax i can fix what they ruined. For one i am now seeing the long term effects of doing this.I have some SERIOUS negative camber and my tires are showin steel... Not good. I have a shudder in the steering wheel at any speeds above 40mph,And the shocks are shot...and i think ya'll can guess why. !!! SO,i have been looking at name brands then looking on ebay to find the same ones half price...looking to save some money.
I plan on buying a front end rebuild kit that contains new upper control arms with ball joints, lower balls joints, and inner and outter tie rods...this package is gonna run me $150...i dont think that is tooo bad. As for Springs/Shocks...I am looking at some Tokico HP Blues with Tokico drop Spring Package for $340. The Drop on these springs is 1.25" advertised...this settle drop shouldnt give me any more camber problems should it? As far as i know a little neg camber is ok,anything over 1.5" could use a camber kit...this true? And i would like to know now if i am gonna need a camber kit or if it will be ok,not once they are on i find i need one .
Another thing i am trying to locate is someone who is selling the correct model of the AC Autotechnic Cold Air Intake for my ride!!! Everyone has the Si model, but the DX(which AC does make,i looked it up)model no one carries. And i am not sure about these $40 intakes for sale on ebay by no name people...but maybe ya'll could throw some input into that down here. Maybe they work fine your just not payin for the name...i just wanna know it will fit when i get it.
OH and if anyone who reads this (and preferably is local to St Louis) knows of someone selling a cheap Engine that would make a good swap ta get rid of my d15b2 i would be interested. Cheap like maybe it needs new internals or sumpthin, long as the block and cylinder walls are in good condition.
Thanks ya'll
Tell me what ya think of my very soon to be Purchases

Re: New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

If you ask me, I would go ahead and get a camber kit, doesn't ever hurt to be able to adjust it if you need to. Now for rebuilding the whole front end, i really wouldn't do that unless your control arms are bent and your ball joints are actually bad, or if any of the bushings are shot in them. The shaking is mainly coming from your tires....thats how I usually tell when I HAVE to get new tires, I get full use from tires, until I can't see any more tread or wire starts coming through spots(whichever happens first), i keep the tire. For the intake, the Si should fit, most honda intakes are pretty much the same, short extention from the manifold, 45 degree bend, straight pipe...true cold air would have another 90 degree bend to go through the hole in the inner structure to tuck inside your wheel well. The only difference might be that first straight piece at the manifold because of where the throttle body could be located, don't know if the DPFI is located further left than the MPFI is, either way i had a APC short ram on mine at one point in time and it fit alright, i just never got around to actually bolting the tube down so it wouldn't rub on anything it wasn't supposed to.

Re: New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

Thanks Tony. Do you know of a place to get a reliable camber kit for both front wheels for under $100??? Ingalls are like $100 or more for each wheel!to much. There are some pretty cheap kits on ebay, dont know how good they are though. I think they are made by SpringTech or something like that. Among other brands, MRC kit for bout $70.I think i am going to buy that one.Comes with Lifetime warranty. Do you know anything about OBX Kits???they are a little more expensive, but no warranty. thanks Again

Re: New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

Tires would be my first concern.
The suspension set-up is decent. With only 1.5" of lowering camber kits aren't a serious issue. If your replacing the upper control arms get them with adjustable ball joints, there is your front kits. For the rear it can be done very cheap either with your own parts(use grade 8 bolts) or ingalls parts.

www.tirerack.com for ingalls bolts
I would worry about the camber kits later, with new tires & new suspension, after alignment, you should check your tires for inner edge wear every 7500 miles - rotate at that time. First sign of major wear install the kits and get an alignment again. Even if you don't get the kits make sure to have the toe set correctly. Toe in will eat up tires much faster than a little negative camber.

My car is on Eibach springs, 1.5" drop, my tires hardly have inner edge wear after 30K miles and me driving.

As fas as intakes, they're all basically the same thing. The biggest differences are between short ram and cold air or CARB approved and not approved. If your state is strict on emmisions the CARB approval is required. Other than that just get a good K&N filter for it.

Re: New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

A carb approved intake is legal to use on your vehicle in places where it is required, a non approved one would get you failed on a vehicle inspection...

I haven't actually had a camber kit so I couldn't tell you about the kits themselve, but I just see it as if your gonna replace this stuff or working on it, might as well go ahead and do it. And yes, Bull is correct, toe is adjusted by the tie rods, really simple to do. Same with the rear camber correction, just use your own stuff to fix that if you have to, i doubt you will.

yeah great info on the carb approved and non approved. i was wondering more about the actual differences in the product not the legality of them.

Re: New Suspension ! Comments?Suggestions?

No difference really, well that is unless you want to get down to the issue of the cheaper ebay type not being approved, it is an ebay intake after all.....
