Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

Looks cool I'm just so used to the black-back gauges during the day, so tell me how the adjustments are (concerning the change to a white gauge). I've been thinking picking me up some glow gauges myself, I just don't know if it'll be too weird for my eyes while driving.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

I had the same ones in my old spyder. They are very nice. Not to bright. your eyes actually adjust to them. You will notice they are a bit brighter to begin with.

I had that exact kit from the same guy. One thing I noticed well had a problem with was the inverter died in about 2 months. I bought a new one from speedshop (I think thats the need it started with speed) that had an option to make them blue or green and adjust the intensity. It was 15 bucks and much higher quality. Great gauges

You can actually connect the on off switch pins together on those so that if you have them hooked to your light switch they will just come on with that. So when I had my night time lights on my gauges would be on by default. If you don't I give you fair warning that switch looks so cheesy.

You can mount the inverter next to the gauges on the right hand side. It's a pain to stuff back there but it works. Ground you can pull off the screw on that side right below the gauges.

Be handy with a dremel and a grinding/cutting wheel. I had to cut a sizeable portion of the back of the case out (gauge cluster) to get the wires through. I did this on the top right and routed all the wires to there.

You will be very happy with them once you get them installed.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

place was called speed hut I remembered later

If you do feel free to email me I respond faster to that or just drop me an IM on AIM.

It's fairly simple once you take everything apart and see how it's all laid out. I had a tutorial off Vfaq that I used along with boostedspyder's cardomain page to figure out which wire to tap for positive.

Just be very careful with the gauge clusters. Make sure you somehow faster the gauge faces down with a screw if you can. I had to take mine apart about a week later because the one face bubbled up and would slow down the needle for a bit.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

Those are for an auto, the tach only goes up to 8k. If they send you those it could possibly throw your tach off if the numbers are spaced out more.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

When I had them in a manual spyder (not sure if tach is dif from the normal gs) the numbers lined up fine it's just the redline was different thats all.

Doh I should have thought of this earlier. The set I spoke of I ripped out of my old car.

I have a new set for my gst coming with another inverter (should be here in a day or two). So that means I have my old gauges, plus a new inverter (without the control knob). It's yours for 20 bucks shipped if you want them. I can't use them on my new gst...

Two caveat's. There is a small dirt mark on the center of one of the faces. I didn't try to clean it i noticed it after I put them in the first time. If this bugs you should it not come off then I'd go for the brand new ones. It was barely noticeable to me though. It's like a smudge from my finger I think. Now that they are out I'll have to try to clean them. In removing them one of the connectors to the inverter got smashed. It was a plug type thing. I can crimp on some quick disconnects to that one if you wanted and you are interested in buying them.

If not no offense taken. But if your looking to save a bit of cash and don't mind a smudge If I/you can't get it off they work great and only have about 2 months of use on them.

If your interested let me know I'll try to clean them and take a picture so you can see if it doesn't come off.

I should add unless you already did purchase them from the tense in "Bought" in that case they are up for grabs.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

only on the gst does it go to 9k I think and gsx. All RS/GS/ spyder GS shoudl be to 8k. With redline at 7 in manual and 6.5 in auto. But you figure it out quickly.

They do make different versions of the gauges you just need to search around for the right ones you need.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

You got the wrong one. It's not going to line up right.

Auto redlines at 6.5k and goes to 8k

Manual redlines at 7k and goes to 9k

If you bought the wrong ones, they will be off. Don't even attempt to put them on if you got the wrong ones, just return them and get the right ones.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

I would stay away from any type of guage faces. Several of my needles are stuck/sloppy after I had mine installed (RPMs and speed work okay, but I have aftermarket guages, so the others don't really matter to me). Almost every one of my friends who's installed a guage face has had the "stuck-needle-syndrome". Good luck with them nevertheless.

Re: Bought Reverse Glow Gauges

I had the "stuck needle" syndrome for the first few weeks after I had installed them, but it soon went away. Just make sure they're PERFECTLY flat and for even more assurance, you could just put dabs of super-glue behind the gauges just to hold them down around where the needle sweeps.
