How to adjust camber?

I hit my wheel and looks like I have about 5 degrees of positive camber. I just want a quick way to make it more normal until my paycheck so that I can get my alignment done. It looks pretty bad right now, and I have some noise in there, think my bearing is shot. I just replaced my rim today and need a way to fix it temporary.
Ohh and the wheel is rear left. I hit an icy patch that wasn't visible to me and slid into a curb smashing my steel rim.

Thanks for the help.

Re: How to adjust camber?

Camber is adjusted by making changes to control arm in relation to the cross member.

Re: How to adjust camber?

I know that, but which one to align? Rear control arm or he upper one? And outer or inner bolts? I just checked the wheel, it has slight movement in it, and sound when I spin it. I'll have to check it out at work (I work at a car shop) on saturday, and replace it soon. Damn I hate it when something is wrong in the car, everytime I fix everything to perfection, some new surprise comes up.

Re: How to adjust camber?

I know exactly what you mean and if you work at a car shop just have them hook you up with a front wheel alignment.

Re: How to adjust camber?

We don't do alignment. It is a general repair shop that will work on any car. I can balance the wheel and change tires, but no alignment equipment. I went to several places that do alignment but no one does single wheel alone. This sucks cause I just had my alignment done like 2 month ago.
Ohh and my wheel hub/bearing is screwed. I'll have to change that on saturday, I guess I'll just look around see which bolts have been altered lately while I am at it.
Thank you for the help. I can't believe that there are no cheap people here that do alignment DIY style. I know a lot of 240 owners do . Those cheap drifters.

Re: How to adjust camber?

Hey Pavlo Whats up?

If the rear is showing positive than chances are that the lower arm is bent and possible the trailling arm. Thats a pretty beefy peice of steal though so i would replace the lower arm first and see if it make an improvement. If it was negative that would be a different story. All you would have to do is put some shims behind were the upper arm mounts to the car. that would bring the top of the wheel out but the other way, its just not possible.

I can check to see if i have one laying around. Sometimes the bolts get stuck in the bushings so it may be a lost cause.

How did the switch i sent you work out by the way?

Re: How to adjust camber?

Hey,
Well I checked the car out yesterday on a lift, camber is not adjustable in our cars, so yeah one of my arms is bend. I would generally think that is the upper arm as it looks weaker (and it has bends at the joints), the lower one looks like a big piece of metal. The trailing arm could be damaged as well, I'll put it on a lift again next seturday and really check it out (did't have time yesterdaY). Ohh and the bearing is done, so I need a new hub now.
Thanks for the help.

And the switch works beautifly, just like before. Everything arrived in good condition. Thanks again.

Re: How to adjust camber?

If the top of the wheel is tipped out than its not the upper arm. If the top of the wheel is tipped inward then Yes it would be the upper arm.

Anyway let me know if i can help you out with anything.

Re: How to adjust camber?

check the lower frame to make sure it hasnt been bent. sounds like u bent something in the trailing arm or the lca. make sure ur frame isnt bent or else if it is change those parts wont do much. get a tape measure and start measuring things.
