Chevelle vs. Prelude

last night, some friends and i went out to applebee's around 11 at night. to hang out , since it was too hot and humid to do much. on our way back, my buddy came in my car with me.

as we headed down the highway, over on the right side about 50 yds ahead, was a mid 90's or so Prelude that was dropped, rims, "custom" paint, mirror tints, fart can, and a huge aluminum wing. i was traveling at about 65-70 because i only had a 1/4 tank left, and with 8-9mpg, it doesn't last too long. when i saw the 'Lude, i floored it and blew by him on the left.

he flashed his highs at me a couple times, so i slowed down so he could catch up. i saw him coming up on my right, and assumed he would pull up to me, and then we would go. he was going about 10-15 mph faster than me at the time, and pulled about 10 feet ahead. when i realized he wasn't going to slow down and pull even, i nailed the loud pedal, and shot by like a slingshot. i'm guessing that i topped out at 130mph or so(my speedo was pegged at 120, and i was still accelerating) by the time i looked back in my rearview, he had slowed and i'd guess he was a little less than 1/4 mile back. my buddy and i slowed to 60-65, but he didn't want to pass us or try and catch up. i guess he didn't want to embarass himself in front of his buddies or girl or whoever was in his car with him.

i wish it wasn't so humid when i raced last night. my motor does not like humidity in the air with the performance buildup.

Nice Kill.

It's good to know that American Muscle cars are alive and well!

My husband use to have a 68 chevelle and I think it was 300 hsp at one time. He made several kills.

thanks, guys. no imports have beaten the chevy yet.... although i cruise with a couple guys that would walk my car like it's standing still, but they drive muscle as well- a 800hp '70 Chevelle and a 675hp '63 Nova. the reason why i raced the guy was because my buddy was egging me on, and i figured it would be a nice way to top off the night.

anyways, it's good to be back at the forum after a couple months. it's good to see some new names here as well as all the familiar ones.

ldelaysionl- how's the subaru doin? i always liked that car...

Yes.

The LS Regal has the 3800 195 hsp engine and the GS has the supercharger which brings that engine to 240hsp.

I just got my GS a few weeks ago and I love it!

nice. Just wondering. Had a older looking model try to race me the other day. I stomped it by multiple car lenghts but, was impressed by its starting acceleration.

well the prelude to most import car buyers are fast because thats all we can afford. the prelude and my S14 are in the same class but that car can smoke me. sooo i'm comparing a prelude to other imports in the same class respectively. of course i know there are alot of faster imports out there but you just dont' come buy alot of Z32's, FD3S's and Supra Mark IV's very often. and those i still don't consider that fast, but it would give american muscles a run for there money. but considerin taht my car is slow as hell until i do my swap, i'll just stick to racing accords and civics. heh

Good kill

I have always been a fan of American Muscle (too bad I can't afford the gas for one, or I would have one :P)

I really like your Chevelle... its beautiful.
