Shift Indicator GP GT 97-02

Hello all,

Does anyone know if someone just sells the insert that has P R N D 3 2 1 on the center console without buying the whole shift assembly? The one I have is a bit messed up but for $200.00 I can live with it.
I can't believe GM doesn't sell it.

Thanks

Regretfully, GM doesn't sell any shifter parts separately. IF you have issues with the shift indicator, BTSI solenoid, etc... you'll have to replace the entire shifter. I agree that it is rediculous, but it's the way it is.

That part is typically a boneyard part. I was out at a few boneyards Friday and a bunch of Grand Prixs were out there. Too bad I didn't need any GP parts.

Cars in boneyards are like screwdrivers. You'll see them everywhere until you need one. I swear my screwdrivers change as I need them. When I need a flat head, I'll have a hundred phillips until I need a need a phillips, then I have to dig through a mountain of flat heads. It makes me Crazy(er?).

Re: Shift Indicator GP GT 97-02

Thanks guys, there is nothing wrong with the shifter itself. The face plate with the (P R N D 3 2 1) is messed up like a coating or paint is peeling, not sure if she spilt something on it but it looks like shxt.

I found a decal place that makes inserts for the shifter and any other panel you want to bling up, a fix for 10.00 is a lot better than 200.00.

Thanks again!

Re: Shift Indicator GP GT 97-02

That sounds like exactly what happened to my wives car. the site I found is-

http://www.zzpdecals.com/

Another site I found looked pretty good but it looks like you have to buy the whole set for the car, I didn't drill into it I was looking for something else.

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home_n.asp?dir=search

I was thinking of taking all the trim plates off and painting them the same color as the car (mines silvermist), not sure if the paint would crack as you install it. I guess you could put flexative in it to prevent that.

Has anyone done any of these to their dash?

might have to pick up these http://www.zzpdecals.com/product_images/cf_shifter.jpg

im really tired of looking at that half good half bad shift indicator. since the interior is dark, the carbon fiber look (which im not particularly into) wont look to bad.

Re: Shift Indicator GP GT 97-02

Just so you know I just received it yesterday and the PRND321 is printed on the decal which is ok except at night when the lights are on.

I may get something to cut small holes so you able to see the lights.
