My son punched the buttons randomly on my steering wheel this weekend and now there is no sound coming from my radion. I have tried both the radio and cd player and although they appear to be working there is no sound. I have played with the volume control on the radio and on the steering wheel and there is still no sound. The radio is lite up and the volume indicator shows the volume increasing. Is there a hidden mute command or button?
I have searched through the owners manual and can't find anything. |

Re: 2003 Sierra 1500 no sound from radio
This is a general fix for radios; but try pressing each button on the steering wheel. You are feeling and listening for the click that suggests its working. One of them probabally won't click. This would be especially true if you have spilt something in the past. If that fails, try the buttons on the radio.
My buddy spilt coffee on his radoi and wiped it up, 6 months later he's detailing the car and looses all radio functions. I borrowed the car and got sick of his one zeplin cd playing over and over so I started pecking at the buttons and found the bad one. |

Re: 2003 Sierra 1500 no sound from radio
I went out and tried your suggestion. The only button that doesn't work is the onstart button, but that is not something we had installed or activated. All the buttons worked, even the program and mode changes showed up on the face of the radio but still no sound. I haven't found a fuse specific to the speakers (that was my other guess). Thanks for the suggestion.
