please help

I went to drive my 1999 t reg ford fiesta zetec today and as i reversed out of the drive way there was a clunking noise from the left front side . I drove forward and the noise happened again. I checked under the car and there was part of what looks like a round bar u bracket approx 10mm diameter on the ground . can anyone tell me what this is ? i am partly disabled and need my car to get around .
Thanks to anyone who replies .
Richard

Re: please help

Was this round bar actually metal or just metal looking. It kind of sounds like a motor mount rubber bushing that broke and now the engine has room to clunck around and make sounds.

Re: please help

Hi the round bar is made of cast iron and you can actually see where it has sheared on both sides. it is in the shape of a smile ) but looks like it could be part of a u bracket that has broken.
Thanks for replying.....................ok i rung green flag , they came out and its just the coil spring from the offside suspension. thanks anyway.
