LS/VTEC Head
Can someone either post everything you need for LS/VTEC. I am not sure what exactly I need, and not sure if it is that reliable. Any info would be great. :smoka:

you're going to need:
1. head from a b-series motor, b18c or b16a 2. ecu from a vtec teg/civic/del sol that matches the obd-I or II of your car, preferrably 3. intake manifold and throttle body that fits the HEAD you are using 4. exhaust manifold that fits the HEAD your are using 5. steel braided oil line and accessories for proper mounting 6. timing belt, water pump preferrably for the head you're using 7. head gasket thats all i can think of off the top of my head right now. but if you are not skilled in machining, i advise you get a professional to do the job. that is the key to keeping it a reliable engine. i am getting the conversion done in a few weeks, i'll let you know how it goes. |

is it better to get a ls and do the ls/vtec conversion or is it better to just get a gsr. im wondering bcuz im only 17, so the insurence on a gsr would be alot for me. how reliable is a ls/vtec?

if you have the money, go with the gsr. the b18c1 is a better built motor for higher rpms than the b18b1. there are advantages and disadvantages of lsvtec, look into it and you make the choice. but in your situation, it might be wiser to go with the ls for insurance reasons.
but like i said before, if the lsvtec engine is built right, it will be just as reliable as any other. |

what car do u think would be better for a 17 year old, a civic si, or a integra ls, cuz i found an si by my house, its 99 black si, with 47k miles and they want $13,000
but i can't find an integra ls stick shift, all the integras by me are autos. |

$13k sounds kinda steep for a si w/47k miles on it, i would try to talk them down if i were you. that would be a hard choice for me to make though, but i like the styling of tegs better than civics. so i say go with a teg.

tha civic, at least here in wisconsin is worth about 11500 so if your market is a little steeper i would say go for it...but hen you have the insurance issue again since it is an si
