Cool 02 Corolla, Differential, 3 speed

I have a 02 Corolla with a 3 speed trans and differential. I have found the drain plug for the differential but not where I would fill it back up. Does anyone know if when I fill the transmission that it will flow into the differential? It calls for the Dexron II or III the same as the transmission. Thanks for any assistance in this.

Re: 02 Corolla, Differential, 3 speed

I think the Automatic tranny in all FWD Corollas is a TransAxle -- that means that the transmission and diff are one unit and they share the "fluid."

Was the drain plug you found beneath a pan? If so, that was the tranny drain, and you fill it through the dipstick tube using a suitable funnel.

If you "found" the drain plug on the side or top of the case somewhere put it back in immediately -- it is not a drain plug, but a pressure test port for the tranny.

The second drain plug is on the bottom and about 5 inches to the rear of the tranny drain plug and the axles go into the housing. Thanks for the reply, you answered my question about them being one unit.
