Anyone else had trouble with coil module?

I finally found my troubles I had a bad coil module. I have the Type I Magnavox coil on my 87 98 Regency. When it heats up the car will either not start or die going down the road. If you have problems and can't find the solution it might be the cure.

Re: Anyone else had trouble with coil module?

I am having that problem right now, and we have the same year and model car.

My car had set for a while and wouldn't start, It had fuel pressure, it was trying to turn over.

Another member of the forums (tri-power) pointed me towards the coils and after checking them I found out one wasn't giving off any spark.

I will let you know if I get my car started after I get this fixed.
Tomorrow at the latest.

Re: Anyone else had trouble with coil module?

I just changed the coil in my 1991 98 R-Elite. Although I changed that, it still runs ROUGH. I also need new spark plugs and wires due to corosion.

Re: Anyone else had trouble with coil module?

The 3.8L has two types of coils in my car. One has three seperate coils and the other has a one piece coil. Under that is an ignition module. I changed it out after replacing a fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pump, new plugs, and wires. Now my car is running like a champ. Hopefully this fixed the problem.
