Focus Transmission Chirping

Hey I have a friend with a Focus, its a 5 speed. When you drive it slow in third gear there is a noticable chirping noise, until you get going a bit. The engine isnt struggling, but the chirping happens everytime. Only in third gear and when the RPM's are lower. Someone told her it was a bearing, and at first I didnt think so because it was only in third gear that it happened. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas they would be much appreciated.
