Flat dull after sanding! Help plz!

Ok, so I've got this piece of plastic to test on, and I've sprayed some dark red enamel on it. It turned out pretty rough, but then I sanded it using progressively finer sandpaper from Tamiya. But now, instead of the glossy dark red I previously had, I'm now stuck with this rather flat, dull "pink". Am I doing something wrong here? Am I sanding too hard or something? Would using Future Wax or a clear cote from Testors bring it back to the glossy dark red it once was?

Any help is appreciated
