Lights flashing after new battery installed.

Hi,

I have a 96 legacy L wagon with about 165,000 miles.

Recently I installed a new battery. After I started the car the parking lights began flashing along with the stereo lights on the dash. In addition there was a sound coming from the drivers side in the dash much like a turn signal.

The fourways or anything else weren't on, and this persisted even after I turned the car off and removed the key from the ignition. The only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery. Could this be something that needs to be re-set after the new battery or do I have a serious electrical problem?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Lights flashing after new battery installed.

Hi The same thing happens to my 97 when I disconnect the battery. The parking lights flash on and off on and off. After a while it ussually stops. I was told by my mechanic that it's the security system resetting itself. I hope that helps.

Re: Lights flashing after new battery installed.

As mentioned above, the security system is resetting, if it persists, reset the system yourself.
