Beeping sound for low fuel?
Is there a way to shut off the beeping sound that goes off every time each door opens or when you have low fuel or when adjusting your autolamps? because this beeping makes no sense and is driving me crazy.
Any info would be great. Thanks, Matt |

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
No luck finding anything man. I searched through the owners manual but nothing on how to turn any of these system features off that you mentioned.......Unless any one out there is good at re-programing computers, Good luck!!

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
Is it just my car that does this because it beeps when you adjust the autolamps, turn the traction control on or off, it comes on when you open any of the doors when the car is on, and it beeps at you every time I have low fuel.
So, can someone at least tell me if their LS is doing the same thing. Thanks, Matt |

I cannot believe nobody else's car does this.
I guess there is something wrong with mine. |

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
I think you can change the settings in the status menu, I am not sure though. Just keep the gas gauge above 55 miles to empty and you wont hear it...lol

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
I wish that was my problem, mine beeps soon after I start driving, then every 30-45 minutes it lets out 5 beeps in 5-6 intervals. Full tank, both seatbelts buckled, trunk closed, no lights on dash on. any ideas would help.

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
With the car shut off and the key in the off position, turn the key to the run position while watching the lights on the instrument cluster. Do you see a light for the airbag? If not, the beeping is probably trying to alert you that the instrument cluster warning indicator for the passive restraint system (airbags) is not working.

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
Tried it, the airbag light does in fact turn on. I also watched the dash like hawk for the blinking or any signs of anything, but saw nothing.
Thanks for the idea though. |

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
If you get odd beeps and your car is a 2000-2002 you might be getting random errors in the communications between modules. Try to watch the dash when you hear the beep. You might see a "E" flash, indicating an error. Nothing really wrong but it does seem a bit much for your car. I also would check for any codes in the PCM. Seems like the 2003-2006 versions don't have this odd beep?

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
I'm sorry, I was looking at the seat belt light. My airbag light in fact does not turn on. Any idea on the fix? Isnt SRS systems covered under a longer warranty?

Re: Beeping sound for low fuel?
Well, I'd suggest you start by replacing the bulb for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) light. Then if you have a diagnostic code, the bulb will flash out the code. If you find there is no bulb installed for the SRS, then you can be pretty certain it was removed to mask an issue.
I doubt a bad bulb would be covered under warranty, but there may be an extended warranty on the SRS. You'd have to check with your dealer to see if your car qualifies for SRS warranty. -Rod |
