1997 keyless entry ecu location?
I bought a new keyless remote for my 1997 Trooper/slx and have the proper programming instructions, but I can't locate the ecu to press the button. They say it's on the driver side under dash attached to a subframe, but I can't find it. Any help out there?

Re: 1997 keyless entry ecu location?
Hey... Sorry can't answer your question but what instructions did you get for programming your keyless entry? I'm having trouble with the instructions on the FAQ site.
Thanks, Angelo |

Re: 1997 keyless entry ecu location?
I found the ecu up high under the driver side dash near the diagnostic plug. The instructions for 1997 trooper says to turn the key on (not engine), hold the ecu button for 2 seconds until the park lights come on. While they're on (5 seconds) press one of the keyless remote buttons and turn the key off. Then repeat for the other keyless button. It worked great for me.
Note: the button on the keyless ecu is a green recessed button on the back and is hard to press because it doesn't protrude. Good Luck. |

Re: 1997 keyless entry ecu location?
Some receivers are installed under the driver's seat for the 98-02 Trooper.
