Removing window crank handle
What is the easiest way to remove a window crank handle?
Someone told me to use a disk towel and wrap it behind the handle. Does this work? |

Re: Removing window crank handle
it works, but for a few bucks go to the parts store and buy the tool, a lot easyer to do, even if you know where the pin is and how it is shapped, its a bitch doing it that way

Re: Removing window crank handle
If you dont want to buy the tool , just make one. Take a stiff peice of wire about 7" long and bend a very small hook on one end and a loop on the other to pull with. Push the door panel and plastic washer in a little and hook on to the little silver clip and pull. You can only hook on to the clip in one spot and dont use to thick of wire.

Re: Removing window crank handle
The towel works, but sometimes bends the clip before it pops off, the wire costs About 1 cent and once you make it, put it in your tool box. It will save a trip to the store which for me is 10 miles, plus a wire hook comes in handy for more than just window cranks, you can use it to scratch the eyes out of the dude that broke your window and stole your CD player, which is probably why you need to take the handle off in the 1st place ( to replace the window). Ofcoase if your toolbox is full of snap on tools, you can aford the cost, the gas and the time to go to the parts store & back to buy the real tool. You can even take a cab so you don't have to drive.
