Need help with getting a system

I have an 02 camaro and was looking to upgrade my radio and know really nothing about what to buy and this and that...and thought you guys could probably lead me in the right direction. I have all the factory stuff in there now and would like some kind of bass and such but i dont want to have all of the trunk space (what little there is) taken away as i also do put my t-tops back there from time to time...And I also dont have big big bucks to shell out either...can anyone recommend some speakers, subs, readio head unit....Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Need help with getting a system

if u dont want to use up your trunk space then u need to get a stealth box. that may cost u 4-5hundred bucks though. maybe 2 tens. as for decks i have a sony myself, but im more of a pioneer and jbl guy. speakers u should be able to hit up best buy, circuit city, or your local stereo shop and im sure they can map out some great stuff for what u want to spend. your gonna need a amp, size will depend on what u get, a car stereo kit (80) bucks, this will be for the deck 2 fit in where the stock on was, and it will have your wires. it can get costy, but if u go 2 one of the first 2 places i named alot of times u can get a nice deck installed for under 250

You can't go wrong with Pioneer, its all i use . Remember you get what you pay for so cheaper isn't always better in this situation.

Re: Need help with getting a system

JL makes great subs and amps, but they are expensive. and if you don't want a lot of bass than one 10 would be fine. plus it would take up less space. to save money you could build your own box from mdf wood, but that takes a bit of skill. and im sure you have the common knowledge to install most of the stuff, that would shave a bit of the price off.

Re: Need help with getting a system

I agree with KC rally, Whoever told you Xplode is better than Pioneer must have been trying to sell it. Infact thats the cheapest quality junk thats out there. I did alot of research and decided on Pioneer for many reason. Main reason being that its made specifically for our Din and half sized Radio set up and looks like a factory install with no need to those cheap install kits. Not to mention with 180 Watts it will definetly wake up your speakers.

Re: Need help with getting a system

From the reviews. They don't make high quality products anymore but I don't have any first hand ownership experience. So maybe its better than the critics are letting on but from having owned Alpine and Pioneer. I can say that the reviews were dead on with them making quality systems.

Re: Need help with getting a system

I spent over $2500 on just two 12' subs(rms 800watts each) a 1800 watt sub-amp...a deck, and two 6 1/2' round speakers, and a basswork(i think) box. All top of the line kenwood stuff. I already had a 1000 watt speaker amp and two 6 1/2 x 9 speakers for the back of my gp and this car PUMPED! you could hear me for two minutes before I drove past your house

Re: Need help with getting a system

Funny.. you guys are the only ones that i've heard say Pioneer is good.. after my brother had a problem with his, because his headunit would cause CDs to start skipping, my brother bought a 100 dollar sony headunit afterwards and never had a problem with that.. So yeah im Sony all the way.
