Heat shielding/ Exhaust wrap

Hey all, i havent been here in a while, but its about time i make a comeback.
My 93 240 is commin along nicely these days, and ive been putting on the miles on the SR, the thing is bulletproof.
Im thinking about getting a new exhaust manifold and downpipe to help the turbo to spool, and ive always been interested in this Thermo-tec exaust wrap. Apparently it prevents heat radiating off the pipes, keeping the energy inside, which also helps keep the turbo spooled up. Has ANYONE had any experience with any exhaust wraps? Im thinking that the excess heat would cause the pipes to warp and crack? Any input will be appreciated.
This forum brings back memories!

so hit us up with the mods list. And yes iv heard the heat can crack your shit.....i would just get it coated instead of using wrap.

Re: Heat shielding/ Exhaust wrap

Yea i just got royaly owned, it was a pic of domokun...
anyway, heres the current list, only the good stuff worth noting:

Redtop sr
Rs*r ex-mag
Blitz lm intercooler
Blitz lm intake w/z32 mas sensor (thinking ahead for when I start to boost…eventually)
Walboro fuel pump (255lph)
Fluidyne radiator
Greddy pulley

Tein Flex coilovers with edfc
Cusco front and rear sway bars
Cusco front strut bar
Z32 front (gto hub) brakes 5 lug swap
Z32 rear brakes with working ebrake (I say this because it caused a HUGE headache) 5 lug
Stock z32 5 lug wheels

Right now im looking into getting an exaust manifold, possibly an s14/s15 turbo, slightly less possibly an intake manifold (if i magically find some money), and probably a new ignition, like AEM c2di.

AS for the heat wrap, i might as well get a downpipe already ceramic coated. Its just alot more expensive than wraping it myself, i just dont want it to crack on me.

Re: Heat shielding/ Exhaust wrap

thanx, but what ya gunna do, beggers cant be choosers. Eventually i might get Tein REs or RSs, but thats mucho dolores. I love EDFC and i wanted relatively softer springs (potholes like crazy, and this is my only car).
Btw, it just snowed like crazy in nyc, and nothing is more fun than snow donuts in a parkinglot!!!!! Getting to and from there is a whole nother story...
