Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement Problems

I am trying to replacet he rear brake cylinder on my 2002 cavalier. How in the world do you get it off the backer plate that is attached to the hub? I have all of the hardware removed that holds it in place. I have also removed the fitting, and the blead screw. I have even gone as far as removeing the hub from the swing arm. As far as I can tell the backer plate has to be removed from the hub but with constant hammering I am afraid of braking the abs sensor. Has anyone had any luck removing a rear wheel brake cylinder??

1. <LI type=1>Remove the brake pipe (2) from the wheel cylinder (1).
   
   Important
   
   Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
   
   <LI type=1>Plug the open brake pipe end. <LI type=1>Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement . <LI type=1>Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement . <LI type=1>Remove the wheel cylinder bolts.
2. Remove the wheel cylinder.
