Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement Problems

I am trying to replacet he rear brake cylinder on my 2002 cavalier. How in the world do you get it off the backer plate that is attached to the hub? I have all of the hardware removed that holds it in place. I have also removed the fitting, and the blead screw. I have even gone as far as removeing the hub from the swing arm. As far as I can tell the backer plate has to be removed from the hub but with constant hammering I am afraid of braking the abs sensor. Has anyone had any luck removing a rear wheel brake cylinder??

Re: Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement Problems

  1.
Remove the brake pipe (2) from the wheel cylinder (1).

    Important

Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Plug the open brake pipe end.
Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
Remove the wheel cylinder bolts.
  2. Remove the wheel cylinder.
