Alright got the girlfriends 95 GTC Vert 3.0 V6 here. Ok long story short we got the car from her dad and I was goin to take it to check things over. it needed an alternator he said which it did so when I replaced it the fuel pump ended up diein so we replaced it got it goin and now we have a check engine light and very low voltage. I grabbed the tester from work, I am a technician at a Nissan dealer, and it said that it is not recieving charging voltage. The battery was also replaced during all of this. So I have a new battery and a new alternator but not getting any alt. output to battery. Any suggestions? Any diagrams for the charging system? Is there a way I can get the codes to flash out like with my GMs? Somewhere I was told the Voltage Regulator is in the ECM. It may have been in what I read on ALLData. I know nothing about Chryslers. None of the auto stores have a Haynes or Chiltons manual for the car and I need to get this thing goin soon so I dont have her grandpa down my neck about her borowing his Jeep. Thanks.

Re: Hey guys I am new and need a lil help fast.
on my 93 Lebaron I can pull engine codes using the on-off-on-off-on sequence by turining the key to the on and off positions (but not starting the car or making it turn) 5 times and the check engine light will blink out codes for me. Dont know if that will work for you.

that will work for ya, and no the voltage regulator is not in the pcm, it was on the older 4 cyl versions. There is a fusible link behind the battery that the alt goes thru, it may be blown becaus of the ne alt.

Re: Hey guys I am new and need a lil help fast.
well here goes guys**...you said that there was ..no output from alt. to the battery...correct? if so did you test the replacement alt for faulty diode? you may have gotten a bum reman. it happens more often than not...remember what my old boss told me...A brand new lightbulb can be bad! He owned the Auto Electric repair shop I wrote service for aprox.24yrs ago...**now you know...why I say this...everything changes in manufacturing...diode check used to be first line defence/diagnosis in the charging system.

Re: Hey guys I am new and need a lil help fast.
You know what, when I put a good battery in my friend's Dynasty and drove it home, I thought it somehow killed the battery but was still charging the system. Turns out that since I had to jimmy the battery in there, I pulled out the plug on the positive wire. Yep, there is a wire that goes from the positive battery terminal to the under-hood fusebox, and it has a plug in the middle, it was unplugged!
So yeah, check the alternator and all of the wires. And I thought even the 3.0L had externally regulated alternators...my 3.0L's alternator has a badge on it that clearly says "EXTERNALLY REGULATED"... |

If you're gonna keep it, swing for $90 for a ''95 Service Manual. I expect you can order through your dealer, or on line.
