valve cover gasket
i took off my valve cover to change my timing belt on my b16(by the way i cant get the tensioner bolt loose-it stripped, not on the inside..just the head of it stipped-any suggestions there?) and when i get the new valve cover gasket do i have to put like grease on it or anything or does it just sit there dry.. and does anyone know the torque settings for the bolts on the valve cover?

Re: valve cover gasket
7.2 ft-lbs on the valve cover bolts. though, hand tight is good enough. a torque wrench imo is overkill and not necessary. do what you wish. you should put some permatex grey on the cam and dizzy ends of the gasket.
as for your srtipped bolt. get this from sears. ![]()

Re: valve cover gasket
thanks and does anyone know if the tensioner bolt is threaded the opposite way- since the wheel spins to the left instead of the right? cuz i have no idea why it would strip

Re: valve cover gasket
the tensioner is not tightened down tight enough to where you would strip the head.
follow: lefty loosy, righty tighty on all bolts on your car and you will be fine.
