Big Dumb Engine Question

I am trying to line up my "wish" list for my maro, and don't know what type of ports I'm dealing with. I'm guessing OVAL ports, but I don't really know.

Are the ports in the block, or in the heads??? Heads right??? Is there an easy way to tell if I've got Oval or Square ports by looking or do I have to take the manifold off, and look, etc???

sorry bud... you have to take off the intake manifold to see the intake ports, and the exhaust manifold (headers) to see the exhaust ports... unless someone knows of a way just to tell by the casting numbers and what-not... me i don't know another way...

No, both sets of ports are on the heads. Intake porst should be rectangular, its the exhaust ports that are either round, oval, square or D shaped.
