paint codes?

does anyone know where i can find the code numbers for exterior paint colors? i had my grand prix about two weeks, and some scumbag scratched two lines through my paint. i am fuming about this. its a 6 year old car and when i got bought it it was mint. it looked like it rolled off the showroom floor, i have it for two weeks and this happens. im at a loss for words here. i want to buy touch up paint to try to at least hide this disaster, but all the factory match paints are sold by paint color code number. example of the three likely color codes... ng gm 498, ng gm 521, ng gm 380. i dont know if this is any help, but the color could be called maroon or burgundy. i will try to link a picture from the place i bought the car.

The paint and trim codes for your GP can be found on the Service Parts & Identification label (SPID) which is located in the trunk on the back of the trunk lid or back of the spare tire cover. The code is contained in the last line of data. See link below:

IF you can't find the SPID label Bob mentioned, and your car is 1991 or newer, give me the last 8 digits of your vin and I can tell you what your paint code is.

My SPID tag sucks it does not designate what the paint code is as the example that was posted here, can someone decipher it for me?

mine happens to be U132A on a 97 pontiac grand prix GT. any idea what this color is called?
