Parking brake shoe dissenigrated inside the drum. I can't remove the shoe. How do you replace the brake shoe "ring"?

Re: Parking Brake Problems '03 Suburban
Its been a while but I think I had to put a twist on the shoe or something like that. As I remember I had to work them off of the rear axle/hub. Not too hard but harder than I thought it should of been.
Be sure to check the wear on the inside of the drums, I had to replace my shoes and rotor/drums to make my park brake work. Shop around for the best price. Within the next month or so my son and I will be doing his truck. I will try to remember to check back. Best of Luck

Re: Parking Brake Problems '03 Suburban
I had the same problem in my 2002 1500 Suburban and the bad parking brake caused the truck to fail the safety inspection.
I took it into my local dealer and belly ached about it and they fixed it for free as a customer 'comp'. Evidently this is a very common and very often complained about problem. |
