1995 with transmission problems in the morning

I have an 1995 S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L. When the car is cold the transmission seems like it's not grabing or maybe it's slipping? The engine seems to be reving up but the car is not moving as fast as it should. After the car goes about one block it's okay and it does not do it the rest of the day. The transmission has been serviced recently (oil and filter) but not for this problem. Any thoughts

I wouldn't be suprised if both your problems are related. You might want to combine them both since some people might not put them together.

Sounds like it could just be the clutch fan. When cold the fan stays engaged, it makes it sound like the engine is turning faster than it really is. After it warms up (usually less than a mile) the noise goes away. This is considered normal operation,

I had the exact same symptoms in my '95 last year. It only happened on cold mornings when the truck sat out all night, and after 1 block all was fine. I took it to trans shop, they said they dropped pan, and removed valve body and cleaned silt from valve body, replaced filter and replaced lost fluid. Problem was totally fixed for only $80. 2 mechanics I know tell me no shop would drop the valve body for that price, but I have no reason to doubt trans shop cause it is fixed. Is it possible that, when your tranny filter was serviced, that some silt was dislodged and now is in one of the valves and causing trouble. Maybe another fluid and filter change would help, since only half of fluid is replaced in this service.

There is an temprature sensor in your transmission. It's on the valve body. It could be intermittent. It is call a thermister( thermal resister). If it was mine, the first thing I would do is, pump out all the fluid and replace the filter again. From what you said about it slipping when it's cold and works fine after its warm, tells me it's being restricted from fluid. At that's the way a dirty filter acts. The temp sensor is made onto the pressure switch, so you'll have to buy that switch if you wanted to try that. If you can check the resistance value of it when it's cold and post it back, I can tell you if it normal.

This may or may not be your problem, if you develope a slow internal leak in your tranny, fluid will drain from the convertor back into the tranny, in the morning the tranny will have to pump the convertor full again before it will stop slipping. Check your fluid level after you have let it sit over night, if it shows you are over full this is probably the problem.
