Re: Need Amp Help

well where did you wire the trigger wire(remote) from the amp too? if its do an acc wire then thats why it kicks on when you turn the key on. if its wired to a remote output on an aftermarket head unit, then it only kicks on when the radio is on. and the reason for the amp shutting down is it probably has some kind of internal cut off. im not sure exactly on anything since i dont know exactly how everything was wired.

Re: Need Amp Help

ok from the guys, they say the gain is set too high. the amp volume. the amp is shutting down because its set too high. you need to drop the settings down on it. make sure its on low pass filter, running very low frequency (so it doesnt distort), and dont use bass boost if it has it. but they said turn the gain down on the amp, because thats most likely the issue. other then that, its going to be a bad amp. they told me ever since sony made the xplod series, its been junk.

Re: Need Amp Help

Check the ground connection. If you screwed it into the sheet metal make sure that all the paint is cleared away from the ground point to get a good connection. You may also want to get a capacitor if you don't have one. It will save your battery and alternator and it won't cause you interior lights to dim on hard hits.

I totally agree here, even with the sony junk. Your gain is way high most likely. you should list the current settings you have your amp at as well as the type of head you have. if you ask me, sony car electronics are the worst you can put in a car (worse than wal-mart even). I've seen too many instances of sony subs and amps blowing in a month or two after purchase to consider them good products. Decks don't read CD's too well either.
