bicep

need tips to get out of my plateau with curls. I can do 50 lbs alternating dumbell curls, 80 lbs on a barbell, and a sad 60 lbs on the preacher (this is all reps of 6-10 and sets of 3). I've been stuck at this for a few months now.

Also, what different muscles are worked between a hammer curl and a regular curl? I can do more weight on the hammer curls.

btw, i work my triceps as much as my biceps and the still put on mass and i have not plateaued on them yet.

thanks

Re: bicep

Try doing things like close grip and wide grip barbell curls, chin-ups, and overhand curls. Take a barbell, grip it overhand, keep your elbows behind you, and do curls...cry after each set. Good luck man.

Hammer curls work the biceps brachialis which is the lower bicep muscle while a regular curl works the biceps brachii which is the top biceps muscle. (Im pretty sure I got that right)

Re: bicep

one thing you can do is work the negative motion of the curl, so you work on the way down. this helps build muscle and strenth more than a normal curl. what you do is you get a weight that's heavier than what you can do on curl, then youbring it up, you place you arms on a swiss ball, you will probably need to lean back to get the weight up, then you allow your arms to go down, but you do so very slowly.

Re: bicep

im just saying that it'll give you a better work out if you work on the way down of the curl rather than the way up. just start from the top with a heavy weight and fight it all the way down, repeat.
