Smile oil light....Voyager

I have 1998 plymouth voyager. Just recently I notice oil light comes on when idle at traffic light. But when I accellarate oil light goes off. I have checked oil level and it's fine.
What seems to be the problem?

same problem here..
I'm wondering if it a bad sensor or moisture got inside the connector plug.

Would you know where that sensor may be located at? I hate to pay out when the problem may be simple. And if I decided to take to be looked at,do think it may be expensive?

Re: oil light....Voyager

If it's a 3.3 or 3.8 ltr engine the oil pressure sending unit is located on the engine block right next to the oil filter on the forward bottom of the engine. If it's a 3.0 ltr the sending unit is located on a short tube extending from the base of the oil filter mount housing. If it's a 2.4 ltr, you got me. Try next to the filter somewhere. I'd be surprised if they cost more than $30. Ask the dealer. If the pump is bad...for now just hope it's not. Usually when a pump goes you get no pressure and a constant light. Please let us know what the fix was.

Couple other things to consider:
Are you way overdue for an oil change?
Have you changed to a different viscocity oil or synthetic oil recently?
Is the idle RPM where it should be?

Re: oil light....Voyager

I would change the sender unit. Get one from NAPA/CarQuest or the dealer, some of the chain stores carry junk. Probably cost you $20 or less.

Why did you buy a $40K vehicle and not a $100 Factory Service Manual?
