Rear sway bar size, 96 Civic

I'm looking for a rear sway for my 96 Civic. I'll be using a subframe brace and aluminum LCAs. Is a 19mm like Suspension Techniques good enough, or should I go with something bigger?

Hard to say, how is the car handling now? understeer? oversteer?

any way for a street driven car, a 19mm would probably be perfect.. it should reduce alot of understeer, and not cause engough oversteer to get you in to trouble.

19mm will be fine. You probably wouldn't notice too much differance to a 22mm bar such as the ITR one. I used to run a 22mm ITR bar till it ripped out my subframe. Then I downgraded to a 15mm Del Sol VTEC rear swaybar, and maybe it's just my suspension setup, but there was no real differance in car handling other than it wouldn't oversteer as easily when I'd try. The car still has the same amount of roll between the 2 bars though.

Re: Rear sway bar size, 96 Civic

Who makes a 15mm rear sway other than Honda? I checked on the prices(@ a local Honda Parts Dept), and they are outrageous. I can't seem to find anything at a local yard either. Silver, does your bad experience have anything to do with the idea of auto-x, or any type of sanctioned racing in which you drive like a madman out of necessity? Just curious, I wonder if I'd be okay with a bigger than 15mm bar considering I don't race. I just want it to do some serious scooting around town. Thanks, sorry for the thread jack, I have concluded that I need a bar/set of bars. I need too much loot to do the JRSC right now, and I'm getting a little bored.

I'm using an A Spec Racing subframe brace with mine. It prevents tearout, Im also using Omni Power lower control arms, Energy suspension bushings, and some '99 Si end links. (I have a '96 LX)

Good combo there!! I run the Omin arms too and I like them A LOT better than the cheap POS Megan arms I used to have. I wish braces like the A-Spec one were made back when I had my bar on...

Anyways, Nobu-San, I emailed you back on your questions so check it when you can.
