Timeing Belt Cover

Is it necessary to have it? I've seen a few turbo eclipse's without it i was just wondering, i know it gives moisture and shit a chance to get on it. Just wonted to hear you guys input. I like the look of being able to see the gears.

Those covers dont have an air tight seal anyway so if want to take them off, take them off. just dont do something dumb like getting the draw string on your hoodie caught in them when your working on it.

Re: TB cover

they're just there to prevent rocks and whatnot entering inside the timing cycle.

Re: TB cover

Keep it one there. Why risk having it off, if you can't see the gears anyway while youre driving? It's not worth the risk IMO.

Re: TB cover

I took mine off after the 6bolt head swap. Looked a lot better, I thought.

Re: TB cover

I cut the top off of mine when I put the cam gears on. It is a bit risky but on the 420a the cover is 2 solid pieces so when I adjust them I would have to take everything about again.

Re: TB cover

why risk your motor just to make it look like you forgot a piece? i think they look much better with the cover then without especially if you clean it up good and paint it. all it takes is one little rock or chunk of heatshield from the bottom of the hood and you can kiss you valve goodbye.
