97 pa trunk pull down

Gentlemen:

I purchased a 97 pa and was wondering if the trunk pull down feature is a standard option on this model. I don't see a motor, but the trunk feels like it should close tighter than it does. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: 97 pa trunk pull down

No, they aren't standard. I have a 97 PA Ultra and it doesn't have one, and my buddy's 98 PA doesn't have one either. Personally, I'm glad about it because they are usually more trouble then they are worth. They may have had them as an option, but I'm not sure. If your trunk isn't closing as tight as you want there may be some room for adjustment where the latch mounts to the deck lid. Past that, you may have a trustworthy body shop look at it and see if there is anything that they can do for you. Good Luck. M.

Also check if your trunk has the rubber clearance fittings on both sides of the trunk opening (they're about an inch in diameter, and about an inch in highth). My trunk once had a problem such as yours, and a simple twist of these 2 fittings adjusted them enough to fix the problem!

Re: 97 pa trunk pull down

The truck pull down has two switches. The upper switch on the lid starts the pull down process when depressed. The bottom switch controls the cut off point when the trunk is closed. It sounds like the bottom switch needs adjustment.

Re: 97 pa trunk pull down

The 97-05 body style did not have the auto pullldown trunk. only the 91-96 PA's and some cadillacs(don't know offhand) had the auto pulldown trunk. THe problem was that the awitch would go bad and peoples trunks would be stuck about a 1/4 inch up from the seating place. Buick chose to put a normal, "slam it hard" trunk on the 97's.

To make sure your trunk is seated well, get a flashlight and a keyless entry transmitter and close yourself in the trunk. Have a friend squirt water around the trunk opening while you look for leaks. Then press the trunk button and hop out.
