Question 240sx vs. Mustang

Would a 240sx stand a chance against a Mustang? Both are stock, and have nothing special about them. Its a '90 240sx and about a '99 Mustang. Just curious, and thanks in advance.

no, sadly the 240 wont win. the gaystang 0-60 is 7.3 for the v-6. the 240 is slightly over 8 secs. but it also depends if it a auto or manual and drivers. good luck 240. and tell us the results.

Auto

Both are automatics. Were gonna race any day now, and I look forward to it, win or loose.

In a European '90 240SX (aka 200SX) you'd win 0-60 in 7s stock! '94 model low mid 6

DOHC 240SX's make it 7.7 seconds...so w/a good driver and a bad AUTO driver in the POOSTANG...you'd win! Hehehe.

Everyone knows that the V6 MOOSTANG is not a real Mustang anyways...so you could always laugh at him there.

If you want more of an advantage then try this trick.

Shifting Faster With an Auto

1 - Locate the resistor (official name unknown) mounted over left front wheel well by the edge of the engine bay. It is a grey socket with some wires attached, right next to the airbox.

2 - Detach! Press tab and slide it right out of the socket, and tuck the loose end underneath the socket.

Voila!

I assure you there is absolutely no downside to this trick at all.. Everything has a tradeoff, and in this case of us it is a positive one. The unit's purpose is to regulate the transmission fluid pressure, to soften the shifting for comfort purposes... We however differ from the general public and delight in the feel of sport and performance..

Before you do it:

I suggest driving down the road to the nearest gas station, really paying attention to just how soft and unexcitingly the automatic transmission shifts, how much lag there is shifting between gears... Focus on it it now, for things are about to change...

Pull into the gas station, pop your hood, and disconnect the socket as shown: "Plink!"

Get back into the vehicle, depress brake and move shifter into Drive.. Immediately notice and feel the "Thump" as the car drops into gear...This is about to feel GOOD... Pull back out onto road and accelerate as usual... Anticipate each shift, and savor the total lack of lag... relish in the immediate engaging of each gear, sharply and crisply... The slight head-jerk with each exciting upshift...

Its a whole new world, for those previously bored to death with their comfy automatic trannys... Enjoy the Ride

Thats crazy. There is no clutch to take the punishment of the gearshift, so you are going fuck up your WHOLE TRANSMISSION in NO TIME.

no actually my dad is a transmission shop manager and he said it wouldn't hurt it, I asked him today after reading this post to see what he had to say about it.

maybe some mounts or something could go bad quicker from the moving but nothing internal.

please excuse me for what i'm about say, i am a 240sx lover but there's hell in no way a stock 90 240sx will handle a base model mustang. even though it's V6, it's DOHC with 195HP, 200lbs torque stock and don't forget, the mustang is the heart of FORD dragging car even their base model are quick. I know about this kind of things because I'm a mustang fan myself, I love nissan more but I like my share of domestics also.

Well the S15 SR20DET would win against a V8 Mustang stock (I assume we are talking about the 260HP current version and no mods)

Numbers:

SR20DET
250HP 2.0 Liter Turbo
0-60MPH in 5.6 seconds
Quarter Mile in 13.9 seconds
(according to SCC)

V8 Mustang
260HP 4.6 Liter NA
0-60 in 5.9 seconds
Quarter Mile in 14.0 seconds

The other SR20DET's (the S13 and S14) would lose.

there is something about those gaystang 0-60 times thats hard to believe. my bro has a 98 maxima 5 speed everything stock 'cept the intake and he woops upon the GT's 4.6L. and his maxima stock is supost to do 0-60 in 6.6 secs.

quick question about the above couple posts.. the auto shifting post.

will this screw up your engine? the last time i took it to lube stop for an oil change he said my engine was running REALLY hot, and asked if i did anythign to my trannsy. i said no, but when i got home i remembered i did this mod.

its still on my car because it shifts a hell of a lot faster, but will it screw with my engine?
