lifter tick
What causes lifter tick? How would I be able to fix it? I have this ticking sound coming from the driver side. It sounds like its coming from the 4 and 6 cylinder, around that area. It only ticks after a long drive. When I start the car in the morning at 5 am (its around 50 degrees) I doesnt tick. Some that why Im confused.

Re: lifter tick
check the oil level. if that is fine, change your oil. dirty oil can cause your lifters to stick.

Re: lifter tick
yeah Wix is great, but fram does make a new "tough guard" filter with a anti- flowback valve that keeps some oil in the heads for startups and is actually a decent filter for a DD.

Re: lifter tick
I use the K&N oil filters myself, with mobil 1 synthetic... as previously stated, lifter tick usually just means you need an oil change... if not one of em' could be collapsed
