idle problem
I'm having a problem with inconstant idle speed in my 87 iroc z 350, and I'm hoping someone can tell my what the problem might be. At idle the engine revs at about 500 rpm, but every couple seconds it revs up to 1000 rpm and then drops back down to 500, just as if I were feathering the throttle. My first thought was that it might be the TPS, but I just bought this car, and I don't know much about Camaros, so any info. would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

Re: idle problem
unplug your EGR valve and plug the vaccuum line if that solves the problem, your egr is faulty or egr solenoid

Re: idle problem
I would tend to think of the TPS also, but like coindex has said, checking the EGR can make all the difference, hopefully it's just a quick fix for you.
