Question silly s10 ac compresser

so i just bought a 1995 s10. with the 2.2. It ran fine for a week but has now developed a terible grinding noise. it has been parked scince then. but anyway it is comming from the ac compressor all of the time. there is also mettal shavings coming off of the ac compresser. is this the clutch on it or is it the whole unit.

Re: silly s10 ac compresser

Your clutch is dragging- borrow the remover tool from autozone- back the driver out to .020" air gap and be happy- this is caused by corrosion build-up behind the springs of the clutch driver- seen it

Re: silly s10 ac compresser

Some oil dropped top center into gap between moving and none moving part will quiet it for while until you adjust it or bypass with non a/c belt. Atleast it worked for me.
