northstar

i am looking into doing the northstar swap. has anyone in here done one before?? a couple of gerneric Q's. what does it take as far as money any rough est. and does it use the cadillac trans. and i am was checking to see if you use the new ecu? also are is it any 4.6L northstar or is there only specific years.

Check into the Northstar itself. These engines have issues especially about the head bolts pulling loose and taking the block threads with them.
If you have such an engine looking to drop in, consider installing timeserts in the block for the head bolts.

The Northstar is a fairly popular swap. Here's a build thread for a Northstar swap that should give you some good info. It's a current swap that's going on right now, so it should be interesting for you to watch...
