Question 91 Civic Rims/Tires: What size?

What rim sizes and tire sizes will fit on a civic?

I want to go with 15-18" rims with smaller tires, without dramatically throwing off the speedometer, or is it easy to just reprogram the speedometer for the new tire sizes? anyone have a picture of a civic with 17s or 18s on it?

I notice you said looks.....well sure big rims look better....but I voted 14" because they perform better than these big heavy intertia filled wheels.

From what I have seen, a combination of 16-17" rims on a small drop look best on the hatchbacks, while I would say smaller rims for the CRX.

You can go to BBS Online and look at how different styles and sizes look on various cars, including Hondas, but not our 4G's, unfortunately. It should give you a better idea, however.

Personally, I am looking at 16" white rims for my hatchback, after I get it painted. Sweet rims and granny tan exterior just don't mix.

When I was runnin' 16's with 205/40's my speedo was 10mph off. Then I was runnin' 17's with 205/40's and my speedo was right on the $$$. Right now I'm runnin' '00 Si wheels with 55-series tires & my speedo is correct. I loved the way my 17's looked, but they were too big for me to be as low as I wanted because I was never able to get good alignment with 'em. Tires for 17's aren't cheap to replace every 6 months

17x7 should be like 205/35/17

as long as you do the right plus sizing on ur tires, it shouldnt throw the speedo off too much, especially 10mph, that was way wrong.

if you get bigger rims, you gotta get smaller tires.

Thumbs up

Although the site is for Miatas, I believe it can be used for any set of tires: the Miata Tire Size Calculator allows you to specify your stock tire size information, input your new tire size, and it will give you the information you need regarding the percentage and MPH/KPH difference in your stock and new tire configurations. A handy tool to have around.

yeah a 40 series tire will be fine, ur speedo might be off by 1-2 miles an hour, nothing serious.

I know that for 15'' somewhere on or between 195/50R15 and 205/60R15 is correct. I have 14''s now and they are 195/60R14.
