Cavalier Keyless Remote Problems

We bought a 2002 Cavalier without power locks. A few years later we returned to the chevy dealer where we bought the car and had a keyless system installed.

It suddenly started sounding like the "beep" is muffled. I started trying it out when the car was running and poof....my remote no longer works. The other remote works, but only if I press keys in a certain order together, which it never did before.

Is it possible that I goofed up the programming somehow? Is it possible to program this thing at home?

We only have the keyless remotes, we do not have lock/unlock buttons installed on the doors.

Is this something that needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer or troubleshot by them?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

jim
