New Guy - '95 Z71 4x4 problem
Hello, great site. I have a '95 Chevy Z71. For some reason my 4x4 quite working. After reading web page after web page I thought the problem was the actuator. I replaced it, still no 4x4. The light does not activate either. My brother says there is a switch above the transfer case, that could be the problem. I looked I did not see anything. Can someone help me out? What else can I check? BTW how do you get the knob off the transfer case shifter?
My truck just turned 193K, 350, auto 3:73 with Posi! I love that truck! I'll love it more if I get the 4x4 figured out. Thanks. |

Re: New Guy - '95 Z71 4x4 problem
There is a switch on the t-case, when switched it tells the accuator to enguage. With the truck in 4wd see if you are getting power to the accuator with a test light. If the switch on the t-case is bad then you should not be getting power to the accuator.

Well I feel like an idiot.... It was the fuse. Not sure why it blew but it did. I learned a lesson, start with the SIMPLE stuff... Thanks.

I have the same problem with my '95 1500, the fuse was bad so I replaced it, didn't fix it.... anyone know where I might be able to find a switch and actuator?
