V8 or V6?

I'm new to this forum, and am lookinf for some advice.
My wife and I are looking at buying an Explorer, and I'm wondering if it is worth me spending the extra money for a V8 as opposed to a V6 engine. It will primarily be used for highway driving and towing will be limited to a camper or boat. I'm curious about the mileage, towing capacities and performance of each.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I have an 01 with the V8 in it and I can say that the performance of the engine is great even while towing. I towed a 18 foot boat all summer last year and had no problems. And gas mileage is not as bad as other trucks (14/18 is about my average). I would say spend the extra for the V8.
