Problem with one of my power windows

I have a problem with my driver side window.

The passenger window works fine.

The drive window though acts as if it does not have enough power to do it.

If I let it sit there for a while, it lets me roll up the window about a half of a centimeter.

It takes forever to get it all the way up.

Is this an issue with the fuse, or the window it self? I'm thinking it's probably the window, since it only happens on this one issue, but I don't know if different parts of the fuse are used for different windows, or if the entire fuse is used for both windows.

It's not as if there is absolutely no power at all. It lets me roll it up a small amount and then I have wait another 5 minutes before I can roll it up another small amount.

Any suggestions?

I'd look at motor or wiring maybe shorted out going to door.

likely the motor as everyone says ,but check and see if the mechanisim has a bind on it somewhere and lube it up some ,can`t hurt to try this first .if not then pick up a used motor at a salvage yard if this is an older car

Re: Problem with one of my power windows

Hi all,

I have the exact same problem. It used to take 10 minutes to roll up the driver window and now it won't even move. I took off the door panel and looked the the motor (or what I think is the motor) and inplugged it. The contacts seem fine but I guess the motor is bad.

If I had to change the motor, how would I do it since the motor is right inside the door and I see no bolts or anything for it?

Can anybody help because it's winter here and I can't do up my window

Re: Problem with one of my power windows

get a new motor and the mounting kit (dealer) or buy some bolts that are able to take the place of the rivets. the rivets work the best though, since they are what was used to begin with. I need to do this with my passenger side this spring, since the A/C just died, and the Supercharger will eliminate the A/C anyway (HEHEHE)

Re: Problem with one of my power windows

You will have to remove the window regulator due to the motor being fastened to it.First wind the window down so you can see the nuts that hold it on to the regulator, remove the nuts. Then push the window up and duct tape around the top of the door to hold it up.Drill or cut the rivets that hold the regulator in the door.Remove the regulator from the door, now you can see how the motor is fastened and replace the motor.

Re: Problem with one of my power windows

It is motor for sure. From what I know the motor has a built in relay and if it gets to warm it stops working. This is why you can move it for an inch and then it cuts out. I tested my own switch first and then the motor to confirm this. I have replaced the motor but I now come across the situation where the motor and window clunks when almost all the way down. I am not sure how to adjust this. It is a brand new motor that I installed in the exact same position as the previous motor and motor runs fine its just the clunk I am worried about. Can this be adjusted?
